Scary Bird

For all those bird lovers out there, please don't be offended, but let's just say birds are not my favorite animal. At some point throughout my life I have developed a fear of them. I had a bird when I was younger, and I was terrified of it, its little beady eyes and sharp beak, the way it could hop,fly, and peck with the greatest of ease....
Anyway, outside my apartment I have a few plants that I go out and water each morning. Each morning this bird comes out of the tree and sits atop of the pool fence and squawks at me. At first I thought this was a coincidence, but it has become a trend. Needless to say this experience creates a little bit anxiety for me.
I explain this situation to Brad, and it may have sounded hard to believe that this bird was singling me out.
I went out this morning... no bird, then in a matter of moments, there it is resuming its position. So this morning I went out prepared to capture a picture of my "fine feathered friend" in the act.

St. George

This weekend Brad and I were able to head up to St. George to go to Mark Goldthrope's wedding.
YAY we are so excited for the happy couple!


Brad and I had a fun time pretending to come out of the Bride and Groom exit like we had just been married.


It was pretty cold in St. George. We didn't plan for it either, I think we just thought that its pretty much like AZ weather, but next time I think we will check the weather.

we stayed at the "Bed and Breakfast",Brad's Great Uncle Lane and Aunt Marylynne.They call it that because they have lots of people stay with them while they are traveling to or from Utah. They were fun to stay with.

Like I said the weather was a little colder than we thought. It didn't snow in St. George, just a chilling rain, but this is what we found at a stop on our way home.

spring is in the air

This has been a nice spring break:
I started the swimming season a little early this year by falling into my parents pool. Since I had already taken the plunge once I went swimming again this week.It was cold.
I rode my bike quite a bit and got a nice farmer's tan.
I appreciated the "Weeds" that are sprouting up the yards.

I planted a little garden, I hope it grows!

I joined the Madness and have been watching a lot of basketball.
I made some yummy pizzas


I'm kinda sad it's coming to an end.

Hygiene Bible

As a hygiene student I was given the opportunity to go to a continuing education course given by the one and only Dr. Esther Wilkins. She is a Hygienist, a Dentist and a periodontist and she is 92 years old. She is the author of one of my textbooks ,Clinical practice of the Dental Hygienist,aka the "Hygienist's bible". This lady was hilarious and I was surprised to see how "with it" she is for 92.

I'm just a Bill...

Last week the Dental Hygiene schools of Arizona swarmed the Capitol building. Dental hygienists are currently trying get a bill passed. We spent the day learning how a bill is passed. Little did they know that I watched School House rock's "I'm just a Bill" when I was younger, and we could have just bypassed that whole part. Then we waited to meet/ talk with legislators to help them understand this bill. I think it was a successful day and I learned that I do not want to become a legislator when I grow up, I will stick with Dental Hygiene.

San Marcos

This semester we get to experience working in what is called an "affiliated practice", it is a practice run by Hygienists and they don't have to have a doctor on site.The clinic is held at an elementary school,and we provide free preventive services for children in need. It has been one of the most rewarding and eyeopening experiences. I don't have any pictures of us down in the trenches battling plaque and tarter(which there was a lot of !!!!) but here is a little view of the clinic and school.

First impressions are the most important!

Our instructors want us to experience everything our patients will so get to try/practice lots of things!
