Feelin' Crafty

During the breaks from school I like to take on/finish projects that I'm tempted to work on when I should be studying. My magnet board that I typically put announcements or family pictures on has been getting very crowded with the Christmas cards we've been receiving, so I decided a Christmas one would be fun for some of the additional ones ! I think it turned out pretty cute.

Pandora Christmas

I have recently found a station that we have really liked on Pandora. If you type in "O Holy Night" and click on the Josh Groban version, it doesn't play the exact song you've selected but it will play a variety of more spiritual/reverent Christmas songs. Just thought some of you might like this.

Thanksgiving 2009

This Thanksgiving turned out be a wonderful one!
I Turkey Trotted the 10k with Brad's sisters, and Brad Turkey Bowled!

What a treat it was to have such a relaxing weekend with each other and our families.
This year I really wanted to take on the task of making some pies. Because it was going to be my first time I decided to go with the traditional Thanksgiving pumpkin. As I started getting ready to make the Crust, Brad volunteered that he would do it. Little did I know that Brad was so good at making Crust. I was shocked at the pastry perfection as he rolled it out on the table. I asked if he had ever made a pie before and he said,"No, but I've seen my Dad do it a hundred times." I'm excited that Brad has inherited the pie making skills. Brad never ceases to amaze me with all his hidden talents!

Bradley its your Birthday!

This is a little late, but it was Brad's Birthday this past Sunday! He's 25! My Niece made him this super cute card. Brad Loved it, it's no surprise, because its Sun Devil themed!

No Sun Devil Fan home would be complete without a large poster of one of ASU's Defensive ends, Dexter Davis, on their wall. We now feel like our apartment is a home :)

Something Amazing.. I guess

I love that part in The Incredibles when the little kid on the big wheels is sitting out in front of the Incredible's house and Mr.Incredible asks him what he's waiting for, and the little kid replies "Something Amazing, I guess!?"..
If you don't know what I'm talking about, its about time you watch that movie again...its a good one.

I say that because, I feel I have to wait for "Something Amazing" to happen to update. But, nothing too amazing to report, just an update.

Brad has received an interview invite to the University of Utah for Med school. So we are excited for that and patiently wait to hear from more schools.

I'm almost done with my midterms and haven't come out with too many battle scars(zits)from the stress so far.

Today we had a Student Dental Hygiene Association meeting, where all the dental hygiene students from AZ get together.

We always appreciate whenever we get to get out of our scrubs! ( Don't worry your eyes are focused, this picture is blurry!)

Here's my new group, they are so great.

What a Spectacle!

Here we go "loupety" loo, Here we go "Loupety" lie, Here we go "Loupety" loo, all on a Saturday night.
No Hygenius should be without a pair of these! These are my new Loupes, and with head light and 2.5 magnification the view is amazing. I've been trying them out for the past couple weeks and I really like them. If this hygiene thing doesn't work out then I can always use the head lamp to take up spelunking.

Quilt

I finally finished this quilt that I started about two years ago. I suddenly got the motivation to put it all together. The squares are t-shirts from some things that brad and I have done. This is the first quilt I've completed all by myself. In the past, I would start one, then usually get over whelmed and my mom would come to the rescue. Its not perfect, but I'm pretty proud of it and we get a kick out of looking at it.

Giddy

Tonight's big adventure in the world of Dental hygiene school was practicing giving each other nitrous oxide(laughing gas as its well known). I have only received this one other time when I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 16. Which I was put under for, hence not many memories from it. Tonight I had several students standing around watching as I waited for the nitrous to kick in. It took a long time and they kept having to raising the level. Finally, I got that oh so tingly and happy feeling that comes with it. Then I just started to laugh and laugh. I could not stop myself and everyone around me was laughing so it just kept coming. I think it would have gone on all night if they hadn't turned it down. What a goofy feeling. I felt like I was in Mary Poppins when they are all floating at the top of the room having a giddy tea party.

I must be crazy!

So far I have received 22 shots in the past 4 days. There has only been one day where my face got really sore though. Every night when I come home with a tingling face I wonder what I've got myself into. Oh well, all for the sake of learning right?

Anesthesia

So Far the Local Anesthesia course I'm taking is going really well. I think all those years of Jenga playing are paying off because I've found that I have quite a steady hand. Giving and getting injections is not as bad as I thought it would be,its actually kinda fun. The worst part is coming home numb every night. Good thing this is only for two weeks.

Mt. timpanogos

Saturday we hiked up to Timpanogos cave.

It was very cold in there!

This huge stalactite is called the heart of Mt. Timpanogos. It has a legend about it concerning an Native American maiden named Utahna. This is my Grandma's name. We discovered on this tour that this "legend" was written by a BYU professor in 1922 to try to help people gain interest in the caves. 1922 was the year my Grandma was born, so we are thinking this might be where her name came from.

What a great Face!

Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple

We were all able to go through the Uquirrh Mountain Temple. It is a very beautiful one. It was such a busy open house because it was the second to last day.

Me and Matt waiting to go inside.

Spencer told me that a few week before this, the angel Moroni was struck by lightning so half of it was black with soot. I bet they will get it cleaned up before the dedication.

Blast from the past.

We then headed back in time and walked with the dinosaurs. This park was really neat for kids who are into dinosaurs. My Nephews and niece had a blast, they knew all the dinosaur names!

Airforce Museum

On Thursday we went to the Hill Aerospace Museum in Ogden. There were tons of airforce planes. Brad would have really enjoyed this. I don't know much about planes but this was still pretty impressive.

Utah Trip

My parents were very nice to let me join in on their trip to Utah. We stayed with my brother and sister-in-law, Spencer and Emily, and I had a fun time hanging out with them and their kids.
We took a nice leisurely trip up there and stopped at this cave along the way.
It was needless to say a tourist trap, but we discovered that the man who runs it used to live in Tempe. My Dad can always find some connection with people where ever he goes.

It was such a blast! We laughed,we cried, we danced and played games.
I just love the girls and leaders I was with this year. I couldn't have asked for anything more, they were just so positive and wonderful.
Here is just a little peek into the awesome time we had

Chopsticks!

I'm going to camp again as a cabin mom next week, so we've been having fun gathering up ideas for decorations etc. Our ward's theme is Mulan, so for our activity this week we made fans, paper lanterns and painted Chinese words on posters. I though it would be fun for the pictures for our ward poster to have the girls put their hair up in chopsticks and I have come to find that it is harder and more painful than it looks!
My nieces were brave enough to let me practice on them, but I was never able to master to skill.

Neither of these dos lasted very long.

So we cheated and put our hair up with rubber bands then stuck in the chopsticks. Oh well you can't even tell from the front anyway :)

Brad Graduated from ASU today with a degree in Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnolgy! He has worked so hard and I am just so proud of him :)
