The best things in life are free..

....and that includes low quality phone pictures and birthday meals! Makenna was my birthday buddy this year as we took advantage of the free birthday offers that came into my inbox. She quite enjoyed all the restaurants and loved drinking through a straw!
 Breakfast at IHOP
Fancy dinner at Benihana... She called it bubby hana
umm no time for pictures, there is ice cream on the table!
 Free car wash at Dani's
Finished off with a lunch at Rubios and some free socks at Famous footwear. ( I didn't find any shoes I wanted to use my $5.00 certificate they sent me)
For my birthday dinner at my parents, it was very  thanksgivingesk. A Turkey roast, mashed potatoes and Erin's heavenly homemade rolls. I was feeling very grateful to be turning 25!

The Random Update

A few things about us lately..
Brad and I became the proud owners of smart phones this spring. Brad's Itouch had a great fall and couldn't be put back together again. So we decided it would be better to upgrade the phones instead of buying a new Itouch.
We found out we are having a boy!  I made some brown and blue cupcakes to celebrate
I had a lovely Mother's day this year. I didn't even have to change any diapers!  I'm so grateful for my wonderful Mom and I love being Makenna's Mommy.

I've come to realize you should never say things like, "Wow, our cars haven't given us any trouble in a long time!" They will hear you and within weeks they will just start falling apart and cost lots of money. So don't compliment your cars!
Brad finished up his third year of medical school. YAY!  To celebrate, he is taking the month of june to study and take his next round of board exams. He hasn't had much time to think beyond the demands of school. I know it's not easy and I appreciate his hard work.
Makenna is lots of fun and she is a sweet girl.  It's amazing how her life seems so go from delightful to dreadful in a matter of moments if its not going her way (ahh moving into toddlerhood). She is talking up a storm and we are always impressed with her (of course we are, we are her parents).  Here is one of her delightful moments:

The Great Outdoors

This past weekend we took Makenna on her first real camping trip. She had the time of her life! It was so exciting to see her explore and love getting into all the dirt. Rex, Diane and Sarah's boys came along too and it was great to have them there.

Nick's shirt says "A little dirt won't hurt". Here he is showing Makenna just what that means :)
Then he helped her really get into it. She was covered!
A lot of Jackson and Isaac's time was spent at the creek right next to our campsite. Brad helped them build some bridges with the big logs so we could all cross the water.

We had a good campfire that Jackson and Isaac were so faithful at keeping going. By the end of the evening it finally got really cold so it was nice. As for sleeping that night, it was pretty awful. Makenna did NOT sleep well in the tent and much of the night was spent calming her down. But Brad and I  fully anticipated it to be bad, so I think we had pretty good attitudes about it.
In the morning after breakfast we went on an adventure. Rex drove his truck through the creek and we drove up the mountain aways. We rode in the back :) All the boys threw rocks at the top trying to hit bushes. I love how easily boys can entertain themselves.
When we got home we were so tired, but also glad to have had such a fun time.

Spring

We started off the spring with a trip to the zoo. A lot of the animals were out in the morning so we got a pretty good show of the elephants and the orangutan. Here we are at the petting zoo. Makenna was a little scared of the animals.

Christie and Savannah Came with us. Savannah LOVED all the animals. It was very cute how she wanted to touch them.
 Makenna liked the tractor.
Now that Makenna is a little older, we were able to go to Carolyn's easter egg hunt. She always puts on a fun event for everyone.

Makenna loves her cousin Samantha, and was more interested in the eggs in Samantha's basket than her own.
With it being pretty warm, I've filled up some buckets and let makenna play outside in the water. Here she is in her new swimsuit.
