Shumway Family Hotel

We had an extended stay at the Shumway Family Hotel, aka ,Rex and Diane's house. They were so nice to let us stay with them and we were able to get our house ready to sell.  It was so nice to have some special Grandma and Grandpa time while living there.

Makenna loves the swings and asks me to swing her really high. I can't push her any higher or she would probably fly out!

One afternoon Makenna and I were making pizza for lunch. I had to put Tanner down for a nap so Makenna was left alone with all the ingredients for pizza. When I came back she had perfectly put on the sauce and cheese! I was very impressed!

Makenna just loved helping Grandpa mow
 Working hard on some artwork.

Tanner enjoyed lots of cuddles with Grandpa.
We sure enjoyed our stay!

February and March Catch Up

Trying some solids, he hasn't consistently liked them and it has turned into frustration so we are taking a break.  And it's messy, and so much extra work that I'm not going to force it.

Trying out a swing at the new riverview park. This park is pretty exciting and pretty high adventure!

4 Month old pictures

Here are some pictures from last month.
Tanner at 4 months
15 lbs 8 oz 44%
25.5 in 55%
He is a super smiley baby. He has a generally happy disposition and is a sweet little guy. Tanner has brought us a lot of smiles and we just love him!

Bath Time

Still playing catch up from the past couple months. Makenna and Tanner like taking a bath together.
Makenna's favorite activity in the tub is pouring water on Tanner. He is such a good sport.

Some of my favorite Kenna-isms

I need to document some of the funny things Makenna says these days.  I know this is just a lot of writing, but I haven't done well at all at writing down the things she says, so I needed to get these down before I forget about them.

Makenna has responded very well to time out for discipline. But, she doesn't call it time out.. she calls it "time medicine". She came up with that all on her own, and it is a very appropriate name.  Now, it has morphed into "time mountain", which makes no sense, but is very cute.

Around Christmas time, Makenna started sleeping in her big girl bed. She quickly started exercising her freedom to get out of bed. She would get out of bed with her little blanket on her shoulder. We would come up the stairs to put her back in bed and she would have a little smug smile and say things like "I really tired, I go back to bed" or "It's still night time, I go back to bed".  Now, we have resorted to locking her door. We hear her little steps run across the floor, she tries to open the door, and then most of the time just goes right back to bed.

Makenna says her own prayers before bed. "Heavenly Father, thank you for this day, amen!" Short and sweet for now.

Makenna has started calling me "Lisa" almost all the time.  I kinda miss being called mommy, but I'm sure it's just a phase.

She says, "I have a nice idea!" or "I have a big problem!", followed with no response of what her great idea is or what her problem is.

If she wants something else to eat or something different to eat she says "My want "someping" else!"

She is starting to "Freegot" (forget) things

Some of her favorite things to eat, mostly breakfast, are "Banas" (bananas), "Ohpeaw" (Oatmeal), "Pantakes" (pancakes), cerlerl (Cereal) and to drink "Milt" (Milk). When she eats peas, she calls herself a "pea monster", then eats a lot of them.

She doesn't just think about things, She "twinkle thinks" about them (this is from Abby's Flying Fairy School on Sesame Street)

Makenna and Tanner sleep in the same room at night, so if Tanner wakes and I go in to check on him, she pops up and says "What's the matter with him?" in a really sassy, funny voice.

And, oh how she loves her "Tanner Boy". She also loves to wake him up. If he falls asleep in the car seat, she yells "Tanner, wake up!" until she succeeds.

Whenever she finds a receipt she calls it a "Vacation", and any kind of brochure she calls a "Map"

Its funny to hear her talk about time. Anything that happened in the past was "Yesterday" and if its in the future its in "Two minutes" or "Toolater" (a combination of tomorrow and later).

I love this little girl! Thanks for keeping us entertained, Makenna.

Fun with Daddy

We took advantage of some extra time with Brad around New Years
We celebrated our 7th anniversary! We went bowling and to a improv comedy club. It was such a fun night and a true breath of fresh air for us to get a little break. Brad bowled his best game ever, and it inspired him to add some bowling shoes to his ever growing sports equipment collection!
We finished out the year with a trip to the zoo, we have just loved having the zoo pass. We didn't get any pictures.
We went to the Natural History Museum in Mesa
Watch out for that T-Rex Tanner!

Our little Tanner Rex will obviously have lots of t-rex pictures :)

We finished off our week with a trip to Enchanted Island at encanto park. This place is a little ghetto park, with carnival type rides, but its a little dream place for kids aged 3 to 5. With the free pass there, Makenna could ride the carousel as many times as she wanted
These bumper boat were kind of hilarious. I think they have a motor but barely puttered along on their own. One of the carni guys had the waterproof fisherman pants on and just pushed the kids around. Makenna loved it.

Life Lately

A Random Post-
Brad- Has had several very busy months with more demanding rotations and residency interviews. He interviewed at 7 programs. Most did a good job of selling themselves because it seemed like Brad's ranking order kept changing after each one :) Only a few more months and then he graduates, I can't believe it. We  are starting to see the light of this tunnel.  We also know there are more tunnels to come, like residency tunnels!

Lisa- I took quite a few continuing education classes earlier this year and at one of them I learned about tonsil stones.  What they are, how to remove them etc. Then a few weeks ago I had a little bit of a sore throat and looked in the mirror and saw that I had one! I was actually kind of excited because I knew what it was and how I was going to get it out! I know its stupid but I was all proud of myself.

A few weeks ago our really good friends Kailey and Chase Irwin moved back to Utah. Chase finished law school and I couldn't find a way to sabotage their move. Kailey and I have become very close and we have helped each other out a lot over the last couple years. Makenna really adores Kailey and their little boy Lucas.   I've been lucky to have such a good friend and I'm sad to have them leave.

Now to the kids---A few randoms pictures and short videos from the past couple of months

Enjoying the outside and almost getting hit by a frisbee
A huge bump! It was flat by the next day, but it scared us a lot.
 Happy!
