I'm just a Bill...

Last week the Dental Hygiene schools of Arizona swarmed the Capitol building. Dental hygienists are currently trying get a bill passed. We spent the day learning how a bill is passed. Little did they know that I watched School House rock's "I'm just a Bill" when I was younger, and we could have just bypassed that whole part. Then we waited to meet/ talk with legislators to help them understand this bill. I think it was a successful day and I learned that I do not want to become a legislator when I grow up, I will stick with Dental Hygiene.
"Bill"

San Marcos

This semester we get to experience working in what is called an "affiliated practice", it is a practice run by Hygienists and they don't have to have a doctor on site. The clinic is held at an elementary school, and we provide free preventive services for children in need. It has been one of the most rewarding and eyeopening experiences. I don't have any pictures of us down in the trenches battling plaque and tarter(which there was a lot of !!!!) but here is a little view of the clinic and school.

First impressions are the most important!

Our instructors want us to experience everything our patients will so get to try/practice lots of things!

Back in the swing of things

I think I have been in denial this past week that school has really started up again, The whole four weeks off were so wonderful! It was so much fun to spend time with our families and each other! Brad worked, and I was carefree and able to do lots of things I had been putting off during the semester ( defrost freezer, organize closet, clean the carpets, etc..)

School is back and we are back to our busy lives. Brad is still working 2 jobs, volunteering at Banner Desert, working with the young men, coaching our ward's Deacons basketball team, and finishing up his last semester at ASU.

I'm 1/4 Dental Hygienist, and I'm in my second semester of dental Hygiene school.( that's enough to keep me swamped)I get to start bringing in patients this semester. ( YAY! and YIKES!) I'm also serving with the beehives and love that.

Anyway that whats going on here and here is a lovely picture of the tooth I practiced putting a sealant on tonight! It was fun, then we practiced them on each other!

Trip to Utah

Brad and I went up to Utah for his mission reunion.Brad(and me too) had a wonderful time reuniting with his mission president and a lot of his mission companions/buddies. We stayed with Spencer and Emily and had a fun time with them and our nephews and niece. We had lots of snow to play in! We "snowboarded" down the neighbor's driveway, and the snow was just right for a snowball fight and a snowman.
The drive home took about 2 hours longer than we planned with the icy roads and the accident at the top of the Hoover Dam. For a time we just got out of the car to hang out and stretch, because we weren't going anywhere!

let's go fly a kite

My neices Hailey and Whittney and our long awaited kite flying.
